Katie Coffey's "Buddha vs. Mara"

Buddha vs. Mara is a comic that takes up the life of Siddhartha Gautama just before he decides to sit under the Bodhi tree until he achieved enlightenment. It recounts his experiences while meditating and his encounter with Mara who tries to distract him. After the Gautama Buddha's enlightenment, the comic ends with the question "Where will our hero go off to now?" and the message that the story is "to be continued..."

Coffey used ToonDoo to create her comic.

Coffey's comic served as an inspiration for some of Taylor Oltman's decision when she was creating "Galileo's Telescope."
